The Red Barn Cellar Door

The Box Stallion winery and the 'Red Barn' cellar door and restaurant are situated in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula in Merricks North. It was once home to the thoroughbred stallions of the "Muranna Park" Stud. Hidden behind the massive Cyprus hedges that line the driveway the 100-acre property is now home to a stable of thoroughbred wines. Where horses once roamed, vines now grow and our handsome trees, green lawns and lake provide lovely photo opportunities and some delightful areas for outdoor dining and ceremonies. The 24-acre vineyard graces the landscape and leads the eye down to the wetlands and lake to the rolling hills beyond.

The architect-designed barn was indeed luxury accommodation for the horses and remains intact, with beautiful rounded brickwork and big timber roof trusses. The Red Barn has a unique ambience. We provide subtle lighting with fairy lights in the main dining room. Candles may be arranged by request.

We are pleased to present to you our range of Function packages. These have proven to be our most popular to date.

The main area of the barn will seat 80 people in a banquet style on our large recycled timber tables and the stalls will extend the dining to 140. Cocktail style receptions will cater for up to 200 people. Treed outdoor areas are ideal for fine weather dining.

There is always the option of an outdoor event. Our large wooden tables are transportable and we are more than happy to organize the hire of Marquees etc.

All the packages are inclusive of Venue Hire, in house tables and chairs, table linen, glasses, crockery, cutlery, cake table, gift table, use of grounds/building for your ceremony and background recorded music. Appropriate staffing is also included in the package price.

We are more than happy to hire on your behalf to keep things as streamlined as possible for you but all additional hire charges will be added to your package price.

Package Details

Cocktail Party ~ @ $46 or $60 per head

(Hot and Cold Finger food)

This is a great option for a casual reception that gives your guests plenty of time to chat and circulate.

Our finger food is served by our friendly staff and spaced throughout the evening according to your needs. This also allows for your evening to be structured with ease around activities such as speeches, presentations and entertainment.

We pride ourselves on the presentation of our food and it's all made in house with fresh seasonal ingredients that are sourced locally where possible. There is always the option with Cocktail style functions to have some of the food laid out on tables.

The function package price is inclusive of Drink Waiter service but you may like a bar set up for top-ups later on or for circulation of the guests who are interested in tasting our range of wines.

Buffet Style ~ @ $75.00 per head

A casual approach to dinner with canapés on arrival, a selection of four from our finger food menu and welcoming drinks served to your guests upon arrival by our friendly staff.

Main Course is Buffet Style with a delicious range of dishes, hot and cold with fresh salads, sauces and breads to compliment. Circulating at the Buffet table is a good social event and if need be, the big eaters may help them selves to seconds!

Dessert is again Buffet Style with a great selection of homemade delights. If you can't decide what to have then you can sample more that one! Fresh fruit will always be included as well as a platter of cheeses and crackers.

Freshly brewed tea and coffee is also included.

Once seated with your food our Waiting Staff will attend to your every dining need and ensure the drinks are refreshed if you so desire.

Fine dining ~ @ $85.00 per head

Those who love the 'traditional' touch will appreciate this package.

Your guests will be greeted by our waiting staff and offered pre-dinner drinks and Canapés, a selection of five from our finger food menu. Once the pre-dinner mingling is completed they will be shown to their seats. They will then enjoy a delicious three-course meal. This comprises Entrée, Mains and Dessert with two to three selections served alternately at the table, all timed according to your needs with appropriate breaks for speeches and musical interlude.

Your every need will be catered for at the table and our staff will refresh your drinks if you desire. Dinner will then be cleared away to make way for merriment. You may like to continue with waiter service of drinks or we can arrange a bar area for later.

Freshly brewed tea and coffee is also included.

Regarding Wedding and Special Occasion Cakes ~ we are more than happy to organize a cake for you or feel free to bring your own. However a cover charge will apply if you require us to slice and present your cake to your dinner guests. We generally present cake with fresh berries or seasonal fruit with double cream or mascarpone and the charge would be $2.50 per cover.
